St. John the Baptist Parish School System has established a mission statement of higher academic achievement for all students and to prepare students to be effective citizens in a global market. To support this mission, the School System needs quality facilities that provide students with a healthy, safe and secure learning environment.
Anticipating these needs, in August 2008 the School Board selected CSRS, Inc. to assist them in performing a Facility Condition Analysis (FCA) and developing a Master Plan for deferred maintenance, code upgrades and educational planning.
In November 2008, the St. John the Baptist Parish community voted to approve 2 propositions. Proposition No. 1 called for the redirection of 8 mills to fund retiree health benefits, employee salaries, and academic improvements at all schools. Proposition No. 2 gave authority to the school system to borrow $46-million to pay for school repairs, improvements, and construction projects.
This website has been developed to keep the community informed on the progress of the capital improvements program.
